Private sightseeing
Visit Rustem Pasha Mosque (famous for its Iznik tiles) and Spice Bazaar, followed by a walking tour over the Galata Bridge on the Golden Horn, we’ll take the shortest subway in the world ‘Tunel’,built by the French contractor Eugene Henri Gavand.
We reach Istiklal street and take a walk on ‘Grand rue de Pera’. Currently called Istiklal Street, Grand Rue de Pera runs from Galata to Taksim Square.
The Galata district, on the northern shore of the Golden Horn, was originally established as a small marine state of the Genoese. Later, during the early years of the Ottoman Empire, Galata, Pera and the environs became the “European Quarter” of the city, housing embassies and specialty shops. Currently, the districts surrounding the Grand Rue de Pera multi-task, as they beat both as the cultural and the night-life hearts of Istanbul.
En route we will visit the Mevlevi Monastery, once home to the Whirling Dervishes, Pera Museum and have a short stop at Mavi Jeans store, top trendy Turkish denim brand.
